My education is in botany and my background includes wilderness therapy, special education support, and bookkeeping. It is a joy to be a part of SVMS as both a parent and a staff member.

I live in Black Mountain with my husband Bud. We have two children and four grandchildren (two attend SVMS). We love the mountains, gardening, hiking with our dog and being with our family.

They brainstormed several ideas, and decided that along with the Lower Ele students, they would have a Read-A-Thon during the month of April to raise awareness and money for Japan. As students read books throughout the month, they collected pledges for what they read. Students collected $605.41, and they have donated it to Hands On Tokyo, www.handsontokyo.org.
